Ian Burns is an award winning independent singer-songwriter from the Macarthur district of NSW. Ian has been writing songs for over 14 years.
Ian is a well known voice in Australian country music and performs regularly as a soloist and with his band, “The Unwanteds”.
Ian won the The National Country Songwriters Contest in the Alt / Blues / Bluegrass section at the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival. He was also a finalist in the Best Male Vocal section of Australia Country Music People’s Choice Awards.
After many years of writing and playing music at home, in January 2015 Ian released his debut EP, “Good Friends” recorded with Doug Bruce. The EP contains seven original tracks, including the award nominated “Boundary Rider”.
In late 2015, Ian went back into the studio, recording the CD “Want To Sing”, 11 self-penned original tracks. The song “Forty Something” was released in May 2016 reaching position 9 in the Australian Country Tracks Charts. This was followed up by the release of “Ride Away” which was nominated for 4 awards at The Josie Music Awards in Nashville. “Ride Away” was also a finalist in the 2017 Tamworth Songwriters Assoc Salute Awards, a Finalist for the 2017 Australian Country Music People’s Choice Awards Best Song and Best Video, whilst Ian himself was a finalist in Best Male Vocal section.
